Legends of The Old Kingdom
The Daggerpeak Mountains
The Daggerpeak Mountains are an arctic wasteland ravaged by orcs, wargs, winter-wolves, and other predators. The spirits of fallen travelers haunt the roads as Revenants and ice-wraiths, making an escort through the area a must for non-combatants. Golden Dwarves live beneath the mountains, a few live in outlying settlements but most make their home within the enormous peaks of Amorlynn. The city is ruled by the Silverpalm Dynasty, a royal line of Aasimar descended from one of the early Silverpalm rulers and their patron Silvanus, God of Civilization.
The SIlverpalms have ruled since the dawn of the Age of the Dragonborn, when they were recognized for their administrative skills and given command of the throne of Amorlynn, recently usurped from its rightful heir during the Dragonborn incursion. They cast aside traditional dwarven values in exchange for lip-service and a rigid, unyielding interpretation of dwarven traditions. They traded their integrity for prosperity have proven themselves to be nearly unbeatable, their ruthlessness giving them a major edge.
Kithri Silverpalm, largely considered the only respectable member of her dynasty, was defeated by trickery during single combat by her brother, Arman the Hammer. As a result Arman, a merciless king, has maintained his rule by the same methods. The Iron Fangs, his elite guard, stamp out rebellion through any means necessary. Whether it’s assassination or manipulation, execution or torture, the Fangs will do whatever it takes to prolong his rule.
